About the Founder

MARY LAY HOITT, CPA, CGMA, MBA, CBEC, CM&AA

Ms. Hoitt is the founder and Managing Partner at Mercedd e, an executive services firm offering CFO Services, Business Exit Planning and Consulting for mid-market companies. She is an experienced executive with over 25 years of financial management and operational experience as a Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance for public and private companies ranging from start-ups to global companies with revenues in excess of $300 million. She has extensive experience restructuring companies financially and operationally to add profit to the bottom line. Her industry experience includes high tech manufacturing, computer software, medical device, supply chain management, high security vending machine manufacturing and commercial and residential construction and property management.

She is a big picture strategist with the ability to partner finance with business development objectives to align companies for growth or to restructure operations to become competitive in the global marketplace. Ms. Hoitt uses her vast experience to quickly assess the key indicators needed to drive success in any business model. Her expertise includes developing and implementing annual budgets, restructuring existing debt and reducing operating expenses, increasing gross margin, cash flow management, implementing financial controls, raising capital for both private and public companies, mergers and acquisition integration and divestitures, restructuring core business and financial and operation processes and developing and implementing exit planning for mid-market businesses.

Ms. Hoitt has also been a Partner at Mercedd e, B2B CFO® and Tatum LLC providing Executive Services to a variety of public and private company clients, with a focus on distressed companies. Ms. Hoitt has also held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance at several public and private companies, including Patient Safety Technologies, Inc., a NASDAQ traded medical device company, Meret Optical Communications, Inc. a private RF and Optical subsystem manufacturing company and Sorrento Networks, a NASDAQ traded distressed, global telecom company. Ms. Hoitt has also served on the Board of Directors of Sorrento Networks GmbH and Meret Optical Communications, Inc.

Ms. Hoitt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Accounting, a Masters in Business Administration, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Certified Mergers & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) and a Certified Business Exit Consultant (CBEC). She is active in several organizations including the AICPA (American Institute of CPA’s), Corporate Directors Forum, the National Association of Corporate Directors, Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors and Pinnacle Equity Advisors Group.
